Strisce, righe, linee. La moda e le strisce, le righe, le linee. Nere su bianco, bianco su rosso, regimental, rainbow, fantasiose oppure geometriche. La girandola dei tessuti, le infinite combinazioni e inclinazioni, fanno della moda a strisce un must che – negli ultimi anni – ha riscoperto, per esempio, il gessato, quale modello di eleganza formale e al tempo stesso sportiva. Le strisce, nel Medio Evo, erano simbolo di maleficio, gli abiti che le adottavano erano indossati da boia e prostitute, eretici, felloni e mezzani, insomma, non di certo dall’aristocrazia! Eppure oggi sembra essersi capovolta la prospettiva con cui guardiamo questo classico della decorazione su tessuto: la striscia: divenuta sinonimo di eleganza, disinvoltura, unite a ordine formale, gusto, fantasia e al tempo stesso sobrietà.

Gli effetti optical offerti da questo costrutto geometrico, le intersecazioni su diversi piani, l’abbinamento fra colori, inducono gli stilisti a farne uso con parsimonia, eppure gli esempi riportati in questo volumetto tascabile sono tanti e molto divertenti, da Jean Paul Gaultier a Vivienne Westwood, da Armani a Coveri a Kenzo a Lacoste a Les Copains… ecc… ci sono tutti… circa 250 case di moda sono qui riportate, in una sorta di catalogo sull’uso delle strisce nella decorazione degli abiti. La scelta grafica – agile e divertente – ricorda quella dei cataloghi con cui una volta ci si confezionava i vestiti in casa, un che di sbarazzino e allegro, invogliante che induce a compulsare le pagine con spensieratezza, passando da una modella sorridente di Tommy Hilfiger, a un volto truce e svampito di Issey Miyake.
